Comments:

The Marvin was originally developed in 1964 as a signature model for Hank Marvin of The Shadows. It was designed to improve upon his famous Fender Stratocaster, incorporating a unique "scroll" headstock—a personal design request from Hank—and a sophisticated vibrato system. While most vintage Marvins featured a "Shadows White" finish with a red or grey tortoiseshell pickguard, custom options like black pickguards were produced, sometimes specifically paired with white finishes. Original 1964/65 Burns Marvins typically have serial numbers below 10,000; the 21,xxx range firmly places this instrument in the late-Baldwin production phase. By 1966, following the purchase of Burns by the Baldwin Piano and Organ Company, several changes had been implemented. The original rounded "scroll" headstock was slightly flattened for easier production, and by 1967 most of these guitars were branded solely with the Baldwin logo on the pickguard.Ā
