Comments:

Jim Burns worked closely with Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch of The Shadows starting in 1963 to design a guitar that met their requirements for style and playability. The model was officially launched in 1964 as the Burns Hank Marvin, in a very limited run (only about 315 to 350 guitars made). After the original production ended following the sale of Burns to Baldwin in 1965, the model was revived by the new Burns London company in 2004 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original design. While clearly inspired by the Fender Stratocaster Marvin famously played, "The Marvin" introduced several British innovations, most notably the Rez-o-Tube tremolo and the distinctive scroll headstock. The Rez-o-Tube system is a "knife-edge" vibrato where each string passes through its own individual duralumin tube, intended to improve resonance and sustain. The green finish on this 2012 model pays homage to the rare "Greenburst" originals used by The Shadows.
