Comments:Â
The Wildkat is a "true Epiphone original," first introduced in 1999. Unlike many other Epiphone models, it is not a direct copy of a Gibson guitar; instead, it blends elements from Gibson (P-90 pickups), Gretsch (master volume and small body), and Epiphone's own archtop heritage. It features a smaller, semi-hollow bodyâroughly the size of a Les Paulâwhich is computer-routed from a solid piece of mahogany to include a centre block. This design provides the "airiness" of an archtop while helping to control feedback like a solid-body guitar. It is one of the few Epiphones to feature a Master Volume control located on the lower horn, a feature more commonly found on Gretsch guitars. The headstock features a unique, retro-style "Epiphone" metal badge instead of the standard modern inlay.Â
