Comments:
Launched in early 2017, the American Professional series replaced the long-standing "American Standard" line. For the Jaguar specifically, this was a major release as it was the first time in decades that a Jaguar was included in Fenderâs standard American production lineup rather than being a niche "reissue" or "Special Editionâ. This model was designed to modernize the often-fussy traditional Jaguar. It simplified the notoriously complex "rhythm circuit" switches into a more player-friendly 4-way blade selector. The electronics and hardware were heavily influenced by the Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar, specifically the use of a 4-way switch (allowing for a "Series" position that sounds more like a humbucker) and the inclusion of a phase switch. It features V-Mod pickups designed by Michael Frank. These use a proprietary blend of Alnico magnet types (mixing Alnico 2 and Alnico 5) specifically voiced for each position to balance the Jaguarâs naturally bright "cluck" with more punch and midrange. One other major upgrade is the Mustang-style bridge. Older Jaguars suffered from strings "jumping" out of their saddles; the American Pro fixed this by using solid brass Mustang saddles with a 9.5" radius that matches the fretboard exactly. Unlike vintage Jaguars where the tremolo arm simply "pops" in and often falls out, this 2017 model uses a screw-in tremolo arm that allows you to adjust the tension so it stays in place.
