Comments:
Fender introduced the Musicmaster Bass in the second half of 1970 as a companion to the Musicmaster guitar. It was designed as a budget-friendly, "student-model" alternative to the Mustang Bass. At its launch, it was Fender's lowest-priced bass, costing roughly $100 less than the Mustang. It was often sold as a set with the 12W Fender Musicmaster bass amplifier. The Musicmaster was largely assembled using surplus Mustang parts, though it lacked the Mustang’s "string-through-body" design and split-coil pickup. To keep costs low, Fender used a six-pole Stratocaster guitar pickup hidden under a solid plastic cover instead of a dedicated four-pole bass pickup, although this particular model was later equipped with a Jazz pickup. This bass is all original except for a body refin and the replaced pickup.
