Comments:

Officially launched in 1988, the Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster was designed to recreate the feel of Clapton's famous "Blackie" Stratocaster but with modern tonal versatility. It was the result of a multi-year collaboration between Clapton and Fender's Dan Smith, beginning in 1985. The guitar pioneered the "Artist Series," leading to hundreds of subsequent signature models for other players. Surprisingly, despite being based on "Blackie," the guitar was initially only available in Pewter, Torino Red, and Candy Green. The black finish wasn't added to the lineup until 1991. The Pewter colour was personally requested by Clapton to match the paint on one of his Mercedes-Benz cars at the time. Playing-wise, Clapton preferred the tone of a tremolo-equipped Strat but never used the whammy bar. Consequently, every model comes with a wooden block wedged into the tremolo cavity to keep the bridge fixed. This guitar had it removed and the trem arm can be used as normal.
