Comments:

The Gibson Everly Brothers model, also known as the J-180, was originally introduced in 1962 as a signature acoustic for the legendary duo Phil and Don Everly.  It was based on the J-185 body style—a 16-inch "Small Jumbo" designed to be more manageable than the 17-inch Super Jumbo (SJ-200). The 1968 style is a specific era in the guitar's history. In the late 60s, Gibson modified the aesthetics by switching from tortoiseshell pickguards to black laminate ones that were slightly smaller and did not extend below the bridge. After being discontinued in 1972, the model was reintroduced as the J-180 in 1986. Beyond the Everly Brothers, it has been famously played by icons such as Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Billie Joe Armstrong.
