Comments:

In 2008, Gibson made significant changes across its Les Paul lines. The Classic model of this year was produced with modern features, distinct from the brand-new, technology-forward 2008 Les Paul Standard (which introduced locking tuners, an asymmetrical neck, and a Plek setup) and the new Les Paul Traditional model (which offered non-chambered construction and '57 Classic pickups). The guitar has a chambered mahogany body, which makes it noticeably lighter than traditional, solid-body Les Pauls, a feature highly valued by players for comfort during long sessions. Most Classic models, including the 2008 version, feature "1960" engraved on the pickguard to signify the historical inspiration for the neck profile and general design. It is equipped with ceramic-magnet pickups (496R and 500T), which provide a hotter, more aggressive output compared to the vintage-style Alnico humbuckers found in other models.
