Comments:
Introduced in 1983, the Les Paul Studio was designed to provide the same tonal quality as the Les Paul Standard but without costly cosmetic appointments like body and neck binding. The name suggested it was sonically identical to a Standard in a recording studio, where the lack of "flashy" aesthetics doesn't matter. Around 2006-2008, Gibson moved from the traditional "9-hole" weight relief (often called "Swiss cheeseā) to a chambered mahogany body design on the Studio to significantly reduce weight (averaging around 7.5 lbs) while increasing acoustic resonance. This era of Studio is highly regarded for its high-output pickups, making it a staple for everything from clean jazz to heavy rock.Ā
