Comments:
The Lucille was introduced in 1980 as a signature version of the ES-355. B.B. King specifically requested a sealed body without f-holes to reduce feedback when playing at high volumes. It features several high-end "Custom" appointments, including multi-ply binding and a VariTone switch. B.B. King named his guitars "Lucille" after a woman who was the subject of a fight that started a fire in 1949. King risked his life to save his guitar from the burning building and used the name as a reminder to never do something so dangerous again. While 1994 was Gibson's official Centennial year, models from the early '90s like this one are highly regarded for their build quality and use of traditional materials like ebony. The model is famous for its stereo/mono capability, allowing to send each pickup to a separate amplifier or channel.
