Comments:
The original Thunderbird debuted in 1963 with a "reverse" body. Due to a design dispute with Fender (who noted its resemblance to the Jazzmaster), Gibson flipped the design in 1965 to create the Non-Reverse version. This modern reissue, reintroduced around 2021, faithfully recreates that mid-60s aesthetic. Unlike the original "neck-through" reverse models, the Non-Reverse features set-neck construction, which is a primary contributor to its unique resonance. The Sparkling Burgundy finish is an eye-catching "Custom Colour" that pays homage to the rare automotive-inspired finishes Gibson offered in the 1960s. The "Demo" engraving on the back of the headstock means the guitar was destined for artist demonstration / promotional purposes.
