Comments:
This model is a recreation of George Harrison’s primary guitar from the early Beatles era (1961–1963). Harrison famously purchased his original second-hand 1957 Duo Jet from a sailor in Liverpool for £75 and referred to it as his first "real decent guitar". It was used extensively at the Cavern Club and for the recording of the band’s debut album, Please Please Me. Harrison later used it for his 1987 solo album Cloud Nine, appearing with it on the cover. Following a highly limited "Tribute" run of 60 master-built relics in early 2011, Gretsch released this Japanese-made Signature edition as a standard production model in July 2011. It replicates specific modifications Harrison made to his original guitar, such as the offset strap button and the unique black Phillips head pivot bolt on the Bigsby.
