Comments:
The Starfire IV (SF4) was first introduced in 1963 as a direct competitor to the Gibson ES-335. Unlike earlier 1960s models that joined at the 16th fret, this 2000 model features an 18th fret neck-to-body joint, providing much better access to the upper register. The Starfire IV has been a staple for blues and rock musicians, used by artists like Buddy Guy and Jerry Garcia (who also used a Starfire III), with this specific era of Guild manufactuing being highly regarded by collectors as it represents the final years of the historic Westerly production before Guild moved to California. These guitars are often considered to have superior build quality and "mojo" compared to later mass-produced versions.
