These instruments were typically ordered in small, limited batches (often as few as 10–25 units) by major Japanese distributors to provide features not available on standard production models. The "JP2" variant is specifically noted for its use of Premium Engelmann Spruce for the top, which is generally lighter and less stiff than Sitka spruce, resulting in a more complex, harmonically rich tone with a "broken-in" feel right out of the box.
