Comments:
The D-18 is a cornerstone of the acoustic world, first introduced by Martin in 1931. While early "Style 18" guitars actually used rosewood, the model shifted to its iconic mahogany back and sides in 1917, becoming the definitive "dry" and punchy counterpart to the more "lush" rosewood D-28. This 2003 model falls within the "Standard Series" era where the D-18 featured a slightly narrower 1 11/16" nut width and non-scalloped bracing, before the major "reimagining" of the model in 2012. Iconic players associated with the model include Kurt Cobain (who played a rare electric D-18E), Paul Simon, and Elvis Presley.
