The Ovation 1768-4 Elite is a premium, USA-made acoustic-electric guitar. The "1768" model belongs to the Deep Bowl Elite series, which was designed to offer maximum acoustic volume while maintaining the feedback resistance Ovation is famous for. The Elite series was revolutionary for moving away from the traditional center soundhole. Instead, it features the iconic Multi-Soundhole design on the upper and lower bouts. This design wasn't just for aesthetics; it strengthened the top (allowing for thinner bracing) and reduced feedback when plugged in. In Ovation’s coding system, the "-4" indicates a Natural finish on the top. This era of Ovation is highly regarded by collectors because it features the OP-24 preamp, which many purists consider one of the most musical and reliable preamps Ovation ever produced.
