Comments:
The PRS Singlecut Standard is the all-mahogany version of the classic PRS Singlecut. While the "Singlecut" (with a maple top) debuted in 2000, the Standard variant was designed for players seeking the darker, warmer, and more focused midrange typical of solid mahogany construction. This guitar was produced shortly after PRS won its famous legal battle with Gibson: in 2004, a court injunction briefly stopped Singlecut production, but the ruling was overturned in 2005. The PRS #6 pickups (Treble and Bass) were specifically voiced for the Singlecut series. They are high-output Alnico magnets designed to provide a modern "thick" rock tone while maintaining clarity. The "Charcoal" finish on a mahogany body is particularly striking, as it allows the tight grain of the mahogany to show through the dark stain, providing a "stealth" aesthetic compared to the flashy flame-maple tops. Another notable feature, while "Standard" models often came with dot inlays to keep costs lower, this particular guitar features the iconic Bird Inlays, which was a premium factory upgrade.
