Comments:
The Wandre Tri-Lam, also known as the "Blue Jeans" or "Teenager" model, is a rare Italian-made electric guitar from the early 1960s. Designed by the eccentric artist and sculptor Antonio VandrĆØ Pioli in Cavriago, Italy, it is celebrated as a "sound sculpture" for its avant-garde aesthetic and radical engineering.Ā Antonio Pioli, nicknamed "Wandre," founded the brand in 1957. He ignored traditional guitar-making methods, opting instead for sculptural shapes and experimental materials.Ā TheĀ āTri-Lam"moniker refers to the guitar's tri-laminated body construction, typically featuring three-ply laminated poplar wood.Ā In the early 1960s, the Tri-Lam was one of Wandre's best-selling models in Europe. These guitars were often rebranded for various distributors, appearing under names such as Davoli, Framez, Noble, and Avalon.Ā One of the most revolutionary features of the 1960s models was the hollow aluminum neck (often called "Duraluminum"), which eliminated the need for a truss rod and provided exceptional stability and sustain. The body often features uniquely styled, mesh-covered "grilled" f-holes and dramatic asymmetrical curves.
