The Pro Fet 5.1 was a cornerstone of Warwick's mid-2000s amplification lineup. It was designed to offer the "Warwick Sound"—transparent, punchy, and hi-fi—at a more accessible price point than their high-end Jonas Hellborg or X-Treme series. Warwick uses a letter-coded dating system. It introduced a more streamlined interface and improved thermal management from its predecessor, the Pro Fet IV. Although it is a 100% solid-state (FET-based) amplifier, it was engineered to mimic the soft-clipping characteristics of tube amps. It features a "one-knob" compressor that became very popular for its simplicity in smoothing out slap-bass peaks. Another notable feature was the inclusion of both "Deep" and "Bright" switches allowed players to instantly shift from a vintage dub thumping to a modern metallic “zing”.
