Comments:
The Yamaha SA series represented a major step for the company in the electric guitar market, showcasing exceptional Japanese craftsmanship that rivalled American-made instruments of the era. The SA-30 model was first released in June 1968, with the SA-30T (tremolo model) following shortly after in July 1968. It was manufactured in the Yamaha factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, as a high-end instrument primarily for the domestic market, not a budget export model. The guitar features two early, low-output humbucker pickups, which were considered innovative for being "hum-free" at the time. It includes a "balancer" or "mike balancer" control knob in addition to the master volume and tone knobs, allowing players to blend the output of the two pickups for a wide range of tones. A common feature on many vintage Japanese guitars, the zero fret on the SA-30 T ensures consistent tone between open and fretted strings.
